Sleep Apnea & Oral Appliance Therapy

Loud snoring, daytime fatigue, and disrupted sleep can be signs of sleep apnea or jaw-related issues that a custom oral appliance may help manage. Our team offers a comfortable, non-invasive alternative for patients who have difficulty with traditional treatment options.

We'll start with a consultation to evaluate your symptoms and discuss whether an oral appliance is right for you. If so, we'll take impressions to create a custom-fitted device designed to keep your airway open and support more restful sleep.

Dr. Reddy holds the American Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine (AADSM) Qualified Dentist designation, reflecting advanced training in treating sleep apnea with oral appliance therapy. For patients in Belle Mead, Skillman and Montgomery, that means sleep care close to home, from a dentist they already know.

An oral appliance looks a little like a sports mouthguard. It is custom-made to fit your teeth and gently holds your lower jaw forward while you sleep, which helps keep your airway open. Many patients find it easier to travel with and get used to than a CPAP machine.

Sleep apnea is often noticed first by the person sleeping next to you. Signs to watch for at night or during the day:

  • Pauses in breathing during sleep
  • Gasping or choking sounds at night
  • Loud, disruptive snoring
  • Grinding or clenching teeth while asleep
  • Restless sleep, with lots of tossing and turning
  • Dozing off easily during the day

If even one of these sounds familiar, a sleep apnea screening is a good next step. Call us at (908) 534-1127 to book one.

Do I need a sleep study first?

Sleep apnea is diagnosed by a physician, usually with a sleep study. If you haven't had one, we can talk through your symptoms and help arrange a sleep study.

Can an appliance help with snoring alone?

Often, yes. We'll evaluate your situation and let you know whether an appliance is a good fit.
